3 8th Annual Phenomenal Women's Conference (PWC) - Shaping a Legacy of Leadership: Economic Empowerment of Women
See flier. Keynote speaker: Peggy McCormick, President of Atlanta Development Authority from the Office of Mayor Shirley Franklin. This conference encourages women to seek economic empowerment through: economic participation, health and well-being, economic opportunity, educational attainment, abd political empowerment. It offers speakers who will help women to: Remove varriers to increase women's access to assets and opportunities; Expand women's freedom of choice and social inclusion; enahnce the capabilities and incentives of women to engage, influence and hold accountable the institutions which affect them; and inspire strategic life choices where this ability was previously denied or diminished because of gender.
Concurrent sessions are through tracks of leadership, ethics, and character. Lunch features great food and facilitated networking. A 5:00 reception honors award nominees, nominators, and friends. Our mistress of ceremonies ushers in the gala dinner at 6:00pm, followed by the presentation of the Phenomenal Women Awards in Leadership, Ethics and Character. Oz Nelson is the former CEO of UPS.Inc., and currently a board member of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), United Way, and the Carter Center. His talk will explore how to go about establishing a culture for high ethical practice in an organization. Explore isues of relativism and certainty. 17 Dr. Deborah Roebuck is honored to serve as a judge for the Better Business Bureau's annual Torch Awards in the categories of Marketplace Ethics, Customer Service and Community Service. The BBB Torch Awards will be held April 17, 2008 in Atlanta at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. Ambassador Andrew Young will be the keynote speaker. 21 Bill Curry, "The Five Characteristics of a Leadership Champion" - Georgia Sports Hall of Fame honoree Bill Curry will speak at KSU Monday, April 21 at 5:00 pm. Growing up in College Park, GA, a young Bill Curry did not predict the tremendous height that he would achieve or the reverence in which he would be held. Curry's long and legendary careeer landed him in the Hall of Fame for his years as a football coach and NFL player. From 1965 to 1974, he played pro football with the Houston Oilers, the Los Angeles Rams, was the starting center for the Green Bay Packers under Vince Lombardi in Super Bowl I, and for the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V. His coaching tenure with the Green Bay Packers as well as Georgia Tech, Alabama and Kentucky was characterized by honesty and integrity with a reputation for firm but benevolent discipline. For 10 years, Curry has also been known as the entertaining ESPN sports analyst. Building on his passion for education and honorable leadership, he currently serves as executive director of the Baylor School Leadership Program in Chattanooga and serves as a motivational speaker for companies around the nation. He's a Georgia Tech graduate of Industrial Management. This event is free and open to the community, but registration is requested. 21 Online Ethical Leadership Certificate class, Module 15: Building an Ethical Culture. Culture is a reflection of the collective ethical values and behaviors of everyone within an organization. Boundaries and behavioral standards are created, promulgated, and encouraged. In this module, you'll identify beliefs, values, norms, procedures, and the atmosphere of an organization, whicha re important to a culture. Develop a shared statement of values and ethical principles that are important to one's own institution. Stellenbosch Seboka on Higher Education and Ethical Leadership: Global Perspectives in a Southern African Context--April 23-25, 2008
As a visiting scholar, Dr. Betty Siegel spent three months in 2007 at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, consulting on Ethical Leadership and the First Year Experience. Out of this experience was developed the Stellenbosch Seboka on Higher Education and Ethical Leadership: Global Perspectives in a Southern African Context, a conference of higher education leaders from throughout southern Africa. The Seboka will be held April 23-25, 2008 near Cape Town. It is modeled on the three Oxford Conclaves Dr. Siegel initiated, two at Oxford, England and one at Sundance, Utah.

Speakers at the Seboka include Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, former South Africa Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson, Ms. Frances Hesselbein of the Leader to Leader Institute, Ms. Geneva Johnson (former president and CEO of Family Service America), Dr. Betty Siegel, Dr. John Knapp and others. The Seboka will focus on the practical contributions universities can make towards developing ethical and socially responsible leaders for Africa. The Seboka, a Sesotho word meaning a group of people meeting for a common cause, is a joint effort of three universities: Stellenbosch University, Kennesaw State University and Georgia State University.

29 Change or Die? This provocative question serves as the keynote topic for the Georgia Coach Association PRISM 2008 Awards and Conference April 29, 2008. The conference is for executives looking for ways to maximize the performance of their leaders and teams, especially human resources and organizational development professionals. Dr. Deborah Roebuck will do a beakout session on "Workplace Solutions: Strategies for Growing Your Leaders, Teams, and Organizations." This session will focus on how to implement coaching within your organization to enable the team members to get work done as well as to integrate and sustain on the job learning. 12 Navigating Party Politics: The Rise of Georgia Women in Power
This event will be co-sponsored by The White House Project and will be held at Kennesaw State University Convocation Center. It is being held two months prior to the 2008 Presidential election to focus on women engaging themselves in the political process as well as entering the leadership pipeline in all aspects of life. Prominent female leaders from two political parties will speak in a panel format moderated by Ms. Marie Wilson, President of The White House Project. The discussion will focus on how these leaders overcame obstacles to achieve leadership roles in Georgia. They will also address current women's issues and how each party is working to solve them, although this is not a political debate! Watch this page for updates.

KSU Black History Celebration Committee (BHCC), under the leadership and sponsorship of the KSU African American Student Alliance, dedicates this day to the 2008 Annual Observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This day showcase's KSU's commitment to establishing a campus environment that is acceptant and tolerant of diversity. The formal Observance program will convene from 1:00-2:15pm in the KSU Performing Arts Theatre. Keynote speaker: Carlton Ridenhouer, more commonly known as Chuck D., activist, author and artist. An initiative headed by Siegel Institute Endowed Chair Dr. Betty Siegel, The Sundance Conclave is a continuation of the 2005 and 2006 Oxford Conclaves. Dr. Deborah Roebuck is presented with the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus Award by her alma mater, Hannibal-LaGrange College in Missouri. She graduated from the Class of 1972 with a B.S. in Business Education, and Class of 1974 with a Master of Arts in Business Education.
